Real Housewife takes O.C. house off market

Tamra Barney, a cast member in the Bravo TV show “The Real Housewives of Orange County” has taken her house in Ladera Ranch off the market. The 4,300 square foot five-bedroom, 5.5 bathroom home originally listed for $1.6 million in November. (Click on photos above for bigger images!)

According to Jeana Keough, also a member of the cast, Barney and her husband had received a couple of “lowball offers” and decided to wait out the market at this time.
“We gave it a few months and didn’t get offered what we wanted,” said Barney in an e-mail to the Orange County Register.
Barney said that she and her husband Simon had planned to take it off the market if they did not get the price they wanted.
The couple said at the time of the listing that they were attempting to sell the house and move to a different area with more security.
“With three small children it makes me uncomfortable to constantly find random people in my driveway or questioning my neighbors,” Barney said at the time the house was listed for sale.
Barney works as a real estate agent and was listing agent for the house.

This is not gonna end well folks, not at all. Especially for people like this, who love to portray a lifestyle beyond their own means. Laughable I say.
…maybe they want more security because they’re getting hate mail after her performance on the show this season. it wouldn’t surprise me. Tamra has got to be the most mean spirited person; she’s truly not content with her life.

I laugh @ the fact they bought the place near the peak of the housing market. I laugh even harder that they *think* they’re gonna try and sell it now that the financial markets have tanked for more than what they bought it for in 2005. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The show is good entertainment, and in case non of you figured it out… the show is edited to make it more dramatic, not to mention she is playing it up to the camera.
She seems like a nice lady, and her/Simon appear to enjoy their life. God bless them. I can’t help but wonder of the people responding so negatively, either stalking her or cheering for her financial ruin are a bunch of jealous wannabes.
Somebody tell me how much $$$$ each housewife get for each episode of the show on Bravo??
And she calls herself a Realtor. She obviously does not know how to value a house to the current market conditions. If she can’t sell her own house, how the heck would she be able to sell yours?!
It would be really nice to see one of these women do something, anything of social significance. Volunteer at a homeless shelter, do animal rescue, anything. Vapid, shallow, gross people.

Isnt there talk on the agenda of building a nuclear power plant in her back yard. Even if those talks are off, its unlikely that their going to get any offer that appeals to them. Look at HB, million and half dollar homes selling for as low as $ 700k. Some of these are short sales.
Its obvious that Mrs. Barney is selling the home for its notoriety, and not true market value. It goes to show that these characters are nothing more than an insult to the true hard working, and accomplished families of SOC.
These figures do not represent the over all majority, and I agree, their show should be revoked from further broadcasting.
This is HILARIOUS! It’s like the Tamra and Simon Barney know how much pleasure they bring to people by being their idiotic, self-absorbed selves. Seriously, I could not MAKE UP a real estate script as good as this if I tried. She thinks she is going to “wait out the market” for someone to pay 1.6 Million for that cheesy Fraudera Ranch McMansion?!? So that takes us to about the year 2022, right? The hilarity just keeps coming from these Fraudera Ranch comedians. I love it! But I agree with others, this is not going to end well for the Barney’s.
Tamra looks older and more worn out each season. The camera can’t edit to make her mean spirit - she’s just a mean person. The reason she is so mean to Gretchen is because she is so jealous of Gretchen. Gretchen is sooooo much prettier than Tamra - there’s absolutely no comparison.
She’ll need all the luck selling her house in this market. The price will only plunge from here on out. She’ll end up like Slade - in debt and foreclosed on. You can only live a lie for so long.
Like this is printable news for the OCRegister? Who cares? Are you going to tell us next that RHOC Housewife, Tamra Barney just cleaned out her refrigerator? These people had their 15 minutes. Move on to someone / something more interesting.
Talk about buy high and sell low, they timed the market exactly wrong on both ends. 98% of the houses bought in the country (world?) after 2005 are upside down. And if you look at Ladera Ranch on Redfin you will see a sh*teload of houses for sale. Every one of those houses for sale are upside down. Ladera is a disaster in the making, it is the SoCal Stockton.
I have nothing against Tamara and her family. She is fortunate in that she can probably afford to just stay in her house. Most people in Ladera cannot. The prices have not really come down to reality so none of these housing are moving. But, wow, once that bubble bursts it’s going to be ugly.

First of all, according to county records she isnt even on the deed of this house. Her husband owns it soley, secondly he bled the equity in 2007 by refinancing the first on a 40yr mortgage and taking out a line of credit…..grand total = $1,317,500.00. Yes Ms.Bimbo I would say you are upside down because you are not going to get 1.6 for it. I guess she thought she was the only one with access to county records.
OUCH. You should have used that line of credit to buy your PINK MOTORCYCLE! Then you and your trailer trash husband could ride back to the gutters you came from!

If she was so concerned about security, then why would she be the listing agent? Talk about a GREAT way to bring out the nuts!!!
All the nut has to do is “pose” as a buyer. She just wanted more attention.
Gretchen is JUST AS BAD. It was all a big LIE. As much as I don’t want to, I must agree with Tamra’s position. “Gretchens “romantic love” of Jeff was a BIG FAT LIE.
I do wish them all luck though. And if the show comes back next season, like the rest of you, I WILL BE WATCHING.
Jenna may have her issues with self worth, but who of us doesn’t have issues as well. But she is the CLASS of the bunch. She still carries herself very well.

My response to Tamra is negative because she’s negative; i’m not jealous of her. Wow, who wants to end up like her? She really doesn’t know how to sensor herself correctly, and if she’s experiencing security problems because of it, then she’s the only one to blame.
Sure, Bravo could edit her in a bad light but not to this degree. It’s not like Tamra only has a few bad moments that Bravo is re-playing over and over. She sticks her foot in her mouth nearly every time and her behavior is really bad/mean.
It’s a cause-and-effect world, she’s welcome to behave this way but there’s a price to pay. I would think her neighborhood friends would alienate her very quickly.
The tax roll for their house is $1,302,000; so asking $1,600,000 would be a positive for them. Gotta love that high South OC tax rate of 1.5%.
I actually liked Gretchen’s house the best out of all of them. Does anyone know where that is located? It is very tastefully decorated.

I don’t flip houses
I luckily sold my first house for a big profit and brought my second with cash in a down market so I got a really good price for the house in a neighborhood where housing prices haven’t gone down..- If I sold today would make a profit but plan to stay for 10 years before I retire.
Without a mortgage I can now work only when I want.

Check county records…Jeana and Matt’s homes in Coto and Trabuco Canyon are both in default. The only house they are current on is the cheaper one in Irvine. SO PATHETIC

As a home owner, that’s certainly her perogative. Is this really an occassion to trash the actress? I perceived this to be a human interest story about a tell tale sign of the state of the economy.
HAHA did you say actress?? What acting did she do besides pretending to be Gretchens friend? And it is an occasion to call someone out, as they tried to do to someone else. So, turns out shes not even wealthy, as the other women are, nor is she classy.
A new TV show, “The Real (streetwalking) Housewives of Orange County” begins production shortly after the continued fall of housing values results in massive foreclosures, REO, and short sales within Cota de Caza……..starring - “you know who”…………(one guess only, please)……..
