This is a real accurate poll. 1100 renters. How many are on welfare or receiving some sort of public assistance? How many of these 1100 people are illegal aliens? Where was the survey done–Santa Ana, San Francisco? 1100 renters–an “overwhelming” number? This is a no-brainer.
If you are making less than $150,000 a year, and NOT backing Obama, you’d be an idiot.
McCain wants to tax Health Insurance Benefits. Most renters probably work for companies specifically BECAUSE they offer free health insurance benefits.
So regardless of the $5000 tax credit, most health insurance benefits cost about $20,000 a year. So someone making over $80,000 a year would see a tax INCREASE under John McCain.
Those making over $2 million would see a $250,000 tax CUT.
Hmmm, let me see. Who should I vote for? The guy who RAISES my taxes, so he can give the folks who got us in this mess MORE money? Or the one who will actually get some of it back?
Wow, real hard decision on that one.
the TOP 6% of Americans will see an actual tax cut under John McCain. The rest will see an increase.
Another poll said 40% of voters wouldn’t vote for a black man.
That means that of the 46% of those voting for McCain, 6% actually are voting their wallets, the rest are simply racist.
Sounds like a good enough reason to vote for Obama to me.
Stupid poll,
Of course renters who typically make less on average want to vote for the person that is promising to take someone elses money and give it to them. Most people don’t care how unfair redistribution of wealth is all they see is that they are promised more money.
btw,
I am a renter and I am poor but I still know what is right and wrong.
It bugs every time I hear someone say that the rich need to pay for their fair shair of taxes. The facts are the top 10% pay over 80% of the tax revenue. I would say that is more then their fair share.
Just because I would get more from a canidate does not make it right.
Oh-Bomba is Robin Hood.
So when Warren Buffett points out that he is paying a lower percentage of his income in taxes than is his secretary, he’s pretty much full of it?
The top 10% do not pay 80% of taxes, especially when social security taxes are included in the calculations. 90% of Americans reported under $100,000 of income in 2006, so they were paying SS tax on virtually their entire incomes. Add in sales taxes and all the little taxes on your phone bills, power bills, etc., and you will see that lower income people are shelling out a much higher percentage of their income to taxes than are wealthy people. Oh, don’t forget gas prices, health insurance, etc. Those aren’t taxes, but they hit the middle class budget a lot harder than they do the wealthy.
Furthermore, any statistic like that is worthless unless you also look at the income reported by that top 10%. The top 1/10 of a percent of Americans reported 11.5% of the income in 2006. Essentially none of that was subject to SS tax, and much of it was taxed at lower rates since it came from dividends and capital gains.
But, keep on toiling. The Republicans assure everybody that they will be rich one day if they just work hard enough. Look at all the jobs that have been created in this country by the tax cuts of the last 30 years — we’re sure sitting pretty.
I really feel sorry for the naive folks who believe that Obama is going to give them the hand-outs they’re looking for. Sorry, it just ain’t gonna happen. He does not have a logical plan as to where all the supposed funds will come from. He is no magician either. My household does make less than $150k year and I have no problem voting for McCain. Better that than a deceiver who promises voters he will lasso the moon for them.
What handouts has Obama promised exactly? I don’t think the majority of his supporters are looking for any handouts. He has also articulated exactly how everything will be paid for, based on getting out of Iraq, restoring some taxes, cuts to the outrageously high defense budget, etc.
Hasn’t John McCain said he will cut everyone’s taxes, grow the economy, keep both wars going, save social security (”It’s easy! I know how to do that!”) and balance the budget in his first term? Yes, he has. Talk about a deceiver — he is positively delusional.
Obama is going to have to scale back his plans because of economic reality. Personally, I’m glad, because I don’t agree with all of it. But McCain has no plan at all — logical or illogical. He can’t even articulate a vision for this country other than “stay the course”, which is exactly what he’s proposing while saying that he will be “breaking from Bush’s policies.” He won’t even talk about his platform because he is so busy calling Obama a Marxist and a terrorist sympathizer.
Obama is too liberal for my tastes, but there is absolutely no contest between the two as far as I’m concerned when it comes to who I want at the helm of the country. That’s the same reasoning that has led many prominent people — many of whom are wealthy and/or conservatives, to endorse Obama as well.
SoCal you are spot on! OHB is like a gang leader with all the broken toys following him to a socialist marxist utopia………..Maybe it is time for all these misfits to wallow in there own mess.
Under Barack Obama the people who do not work will be getting welfare checks as they will be getting rewarded for not working. Where’s Obama going to get this money? Obama will be taxing the people who make the money, the people who make the money make this nations economy. Now I am a conservative with our family business and I’ll be darned if my hard earned money will be going to lazy people. I want MY money going to MY family. Let Obama spread his wealth and not mine. Oh that’s right Obama doesn’t have to share his wealth but he wants to dictate where I share mine. No THANK YOU!
I’m not looking for any handouts. I just want to stop the whole scale shoveling of millions to the top 1%, literally now in the trillions of dollars.
I don’t need another tax cut. What I need is for us to stop bailing out the rich.
Marcia, The bail out was because the people who bought their homes could not repay their mortgages, because they couldn’t afford the house in the first place, and the democrats wanted to give mortgages to people who couldn‘t afford them so this is where we are today because of Nancy Palosi, Barney Frank and Harry Reid, and if you add Barack Obama you’re just asking for trouble.
FED UP!, you are absolutely correct!!!
